Bairnsdale West

At Bairnsdale West we emphasise the importance of all students achieving their potential.

We provide a personalised learning program to meet the needs and interest of all children.

Bairnsdale West students experience a rich variety of programs to extend their skills, abilities and knowledge.

Extension programs

Selected students in Grades 3 – 6 are nominated for extension in the areas of Visual Arts, Academic Achievement, Physical Education and Performing Arts


Intervention Programs

Individual and small group support in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy is provided as needed across the school


Camps

Students in Grades 3 – 6 attend camps which provide a rich learning experience away from home and school  


Excursions

All students from Prep to Grade 6 participate in excursions which include visiting and exploring the local environment


Incursions

A variety of artists visit the school to share their skills and knowledge


School Choir

Interested students in Grades 3 – 6 join the choir to represent the school in the community and at school functions


Swimming Lessons

All students from Prep to Grade 6 have intensive lessons to maximise swimming skills


Breakfast Program

Every morning from 8am – 9am, children are welcome to have cereal and toast while chatting with parents and other children


Rotary Junior Community Awards

Students in Grade 6 focus on developing new skills and ways to participate in the broader community


Outstanding Achievement Awards

Student endeavour and excellence is recognised through these awards at Bairnsdale West Primary School. They are awarded to students who achieve in the following ways:

  • Community Service


A caring, learning community

Integral to the Student Code of Conduct at BWPS is the belief and expectation that students will be:

  • Safe and thoughtful
  • Respectful to everyone and everything in our school
  • Helpful to others to be better

All behaviours will be measured against the standards set by these three expectations. Children will be lead to a sound understanding of these expectations by the teachers.
